It only took me 30 years….
I remember when I was a kid, it was a big status thing to see Star Wars hundreds of times. Now, it was back in the days before the VCR when the only way to see it was to sit in the theater. There was a kid on my block who saw Star Wars like 20 times; he was a god!
Anyway, the point of that is that Price Charming loves Star Wars. Loves it, loves it, loves it. Watched it non-stop. I bet I have seen it maybe 100 times in the past year or two. Yeah, that much. And if only I could travel back in time to 1977, I too would be a god!
But how many times have I seen it? Enough to finally catch a goof that I haven’t noticed for thirty years.
In the scene with the dead jawas, Luke Skywalker turns to Ben Kenobi and says “If they traced the robots here, they may have learned who they sold them to. And that would lead them home!”
I didn’t notice it until about the 176th viewing, but he says “robots” instead of “droids”! It’s the only time in the series that the term “robots” is used!

There is no language on this planet with words that can do justice to what we feel or what we want to say to each other today. There just isn’t. So we must somehow settle for the best that we can do… when we can.
I’d like to close this entry with a few words from an anonymous author to which I’ve added some verbiage of my own:
The world needs more men who do not have a price at which they can be bought; who do not borrow from integrity to pay for expediency; who have their priorities straight and in proper order; whose handshake is an ironclad contract; who are not afraid of taking risks to advance what is right; and who are honest in small matters as they are in large ones.
The world needs more men whose ambitions are big enough to include others; who know how to win with grace and lose with dignity; who do not believe that shrewdness and cunning and ruthlessness are the three keys to success; who still have friends they made twenty years ago; who put principle and consistency above politics or personal advancement; and who are not afraid to go against the grain of popular opinion.
The world needs more men who do not forsake what is right just to get consensus because it makes them look good; who know how important it is to lead by example, not by barking orders; who would not have you do something they would not do themselves; who work to turn even the most adverse circumstances into opportunities to learn and improve; and who love even those who have done some injustice or unfairness to them. The world, in other words, needs more true leaders.
More to the point, the world needs more xMuX’s!
You are very welcomc Dude! …. I Love Ya!

No commentsThe Departed
With the companies latest financial troubles, as of April 30th, I have now joined the swelling ranks of the [Company] departed employees. I went in for my shift… not late, preparing to do my day one class. An hour and a half after being at work, my boss (who’s a nice guy… but very predictable) comes and says “Can I have a few minutes with you in private?”
I’m not bitter, not pissed off (and that’s an amazing thing for me), but really…I am disappointed that they think I’m a disposable resource.
I’m surprised that after being “ProCompany” for so long, doing damage control for them, that they
cannot even find
a suitable lateral job or even an adequate thank you for your years of service.
Ever wonder how when someone quits their job, they have these nice going away shin digs all nicely planned, everyone brings cards, going away presents, and generally wish you well in the coming opportunities etc.
BUT… when you get let go, laid off, when you haven’t done anything wrong… they just escort you out and say have a nice life?
Everyone you worked with then berrate you on your MSN saying ”WTF???”
when people start getting tipped off to the days events.
Why is that when a person is let go… they send out an email ONLY to the Manager group (and not the person they laid off) saying “We’d like to thank [Insert Name] for all their valuable contributions they made to [Insert Company name]” but they leave it to the Management group to share this information with their teams.Anyone who knows this company, knows most of the “management group” DOESN’T share information with the lower ranks because they feel it will demoralize them… when in fact, NOT sharing this information is MORE demoralizing to the employees… because they see someone who DID manage their people well (and the other manager’s employees as well), get laid off… with NO explanation as to WHY… other than the whispers
“Hey, did you hear?… [Insert Name] was let go”
“Why”
“No idea man, but gee our stocks are frozen on the TSX… so it must mean the company is in serious trouble”
“Wow… that sucks, I better start looking for another job quick! It must mean there’s more layoffs to come!”
Of course nobody thinks to have a going away shin dig for somebody who was laid off… everybody’s afraid of saying bye to somebody publicly… when they are too busy keeping their head down… so they don’t get laid off too.
Bah… probably better this way… I spent the better part of two and a half years bolstering up people’s morale, giving recognition for people’s contibutions to the company that (really) deserved it, went out of my way to make sure that the small contributions were rewarded in some way… and NOT ONCE… was I ever rewarded or publicly recognized for the contributions that I made to the company.
Maybe it was for the best…but I’m not bitter…. just the sour taste in my mouth is… LOL
